Spark Plugs
We recommend Autolite racing spark plugs. These will come ready to install! However if you can not find these we suggest you get the Autolite Single Platinum . If you use the Autolite Single Platinum you well need to cut the electrode as demonstrated below. (Click here to order racing spark plugs on line)
How to gap non-racing spark plugs.
Shown on the left is the Autolite racing spark plug. This plug comes ready to install. You will only need to set the gap.
The spark plug on the right is the Autolite Single Platinum. This is our second choice for spark plugs. However if you cannot get the racing, this is the one to use. You will have to cut the electrode before you install this plug.
Follow the steps below,
L:Autolite Racing R: Autolite Single Platinum.

Using a pair of heavy wire cutters. Place one side under the electrode.

Bend the electrode away from spark plug.

Cut off the tip of the electrode.

This how the spark plug should look after the cut.
Take a small fine file and square the end of the electrode.
Using the cutter bend the electrode toward the spark plug.

Set the gap to that recommended by the Manufacture.

This is how the finished spark plug looks.

Note: Spark plugs should be checked every 20,000 miles.
1) Check in the porcelain area.
2) All plugs should be the same color. If one looks different than the others there is something wrong with that cylinder.
